Theodore's Baby Blessing

Wrapped in the baby blanket hand made by Grandma Carol. Each of our children has been blessed in a baby blanket that Grandma Carol made for them.

On April 18th, we took Theodore to church for his baby blessing. He was only 6 days old, but we had to do it that way since my dad was only in town a short while.
It was a beautiful blessing and a special occasion.

Theodore's name comes with rich history. Here are a few brief highlights.

Theodore: Warren's great-grandfather on his mother's side, an artist, architect and also set designer in Hollywood. Theodore is also the masculine version of Dorothea's name, meaning "Gift of God" or "Divine Gift."

Alton: Warren's maternal grandfather, a piano player and printer, who accompanied some silent movies in his early years.

Luschin: Dorothea's maiden name, in honor of her father and grandfather, Hanno and Immo Luschin. Hanno, an architect and temple builder, Immo, a translator and linguist.

We also call him Theo, pronounced Tay-oh, (rhymes with "Deo"), in European fashion. It is also a fun reminder of our Austrian relative Theo Baich, a cousin on my dad's side.

Bob and Jane Daynes were able to come to the blessing. Bob is the missionary who confirmed my dad a member of the Church fifty years ago! I have known them my whole life. They were at our wedding, too. Bob was very close to my grandfather Immo, so for me having Bob around is like having Grossvati there, too.

I wanted to put this picture in because it gives you a good view of Theo's reddish hair and his cowlick in the front of his forehead. So cute!

A big day for the little guy and the big guy!
